All Animals You Can Ride in Fortnite

There are currently only two animals in the game that you can ride: Boars and Wolves.

How to Tame Boars & Wolves in Fortnite

Before you can ride animals in Fortnite, you’ll need to tame them. All you need to do is jump directly on top of either a wolf or boar and you’ll instantly tame it and sit on its back, ready for you to ride around the map on. This is by far the easiest method of taming and riding animals in Fortnite, but if you don’t trust your jumping skills enough to land directly on the back of a wolf or boar that’s trying to attack you, you can also use food items to help you. To tame a boar, you can use any fruit or vegetable item (often found in produce boxes in houses and shops, or growing around the world), and throw it near a wild boar. It will then approach it and you can sneak up next to the boar and press and hold the interact button to tame it. To tame a wolf, find and kill any animal to get meat and then throw it near a wild wolf. Again, it’ll begin eating the meat, allowing you to get up close and press and hold the interact button to tame it.

Differences Between the Boar and Wolf in Fortnite

The only significant difference here is the health and ‘charge’ or sprinting utility of each animal. The boar has a smaller health bar, but can charge through objects when sprinting. On the other hand, the wolf has a larger health bar, but can’t charge through buildings or objects when it’s sprinting.

All Controls for Riding Animals Explained

You can control the boar or wolf that you’re riding with the exact same controls you use when moving around on-foot. Press A/X/Space to jump, your sprint button will cause the animal to sprint, and you can also use your weapons and throw items as you normally would while riding animals, too.

How to Restore Animal Stamina in Fortnite

The one thing you should be aware of is the stamina bar for both boars and wolves. This is the large, orange and white bar just above their health on the left-hand side of your screen. Moving around on an animal will generally cause this to decrease, but sprinting will cause it to drain even faster. When this depletes, the animal will lie down and take a rest. You can replenish an animals stamina both when you’re riding it, or when it lies down by giving it any food item. Boars will eat meat, fruit and vegetables in order to replenish their health, as do wolves. That’s everything you need to know on how to ride animals in Fortnite.
